This is a post with no real focus just sort of rambling.
Over the recent holiday break I finally managed to catch up on a few things and re-read some papers. Among the papers I read were the subvirt paper and the detours paper. Now if you remembered my blog before I blew it away you'll remember that I had a post describing detours and interviewing with Arbor Networks. Detours is a extremely useful especially when dealing with apps using SSL etc. One related thing that has me a little disapointed that I've yet to find a good couterpart for os x. Granted I've not been looking too hard as work and other holiday things are taking precedent. If you know of one leave a comment.
For a new book to read I picked up the rootkit book again. And I have to say it's a fun read. Nothing like having your old company mentioned in the first chapter. Additionally it's very clearly written and spends enough time involving you in basic rootkit development that your actually left with some basic skills after reading it. It's been enjoyable following along in parallells. I have a few long plane rides ahead of me so I should be tearing through it pretty quickly.
In other news I'll be visiting DC next week so if anyone's interested in getting together drop me a line.
This looks interesting.
